Gordon Aikman lecture theatreEdinburgh Mountain Film Festival is staged in the Gordon Aikman Lecture Theatre at Edinburgh University.

Formerly known as the George Square Lecture Theatre, it is located on George Square in Edinburgh.

Access to Gordon Aikman Lecture Theatre

On Saturday, the venue will be open from 1.15pm until the end of the evening session. On Sunday, the venue will be open from 10.30am until the end of the evening session.

If you have special access needs, please contact us in advance to let us know – please send an email to films (at) emff.co.uk  There is a lift which is accessed from the Buccleuch Place entrance, which provides wheelchair access to the lecture theatre. We can reserve a small number of seats or a seating area for attendees who require special access.

Travel & Parking

We like to encourage sustainable travel, so please walk, ride your bike or take the bus if you can. Car-share if there are a group of you. There is on-street parking around the George Street Lecture Theatre. It is metered on Saturday until 6.30pm but is often free on Sunday. There are also several off-street parking facilities nearby such as Q-Park at Quartermile.

Tickets

We recommend buying tickets in advance via our website. Tickets for the sessions may be available to buy at the venue but this is strictly subject to availability and some sessions will sell-out in advance. Sold out sessions will be highlighted on the website and social media sites. Please note you will need to bring cash as we do not accept card payments on the day. There are ATMs on nearby Nicolson St and Clerk St.

Cafe, Bar and Exhibitors

There will be a well-stocked cafe and bar in the venue, selling drinks and snacks. There will also be various stands from local charities and festival sponsors.
