The EMFF kicks off with our popular Climber’s Session, which focuses on all types of climbing. The session includes 5 great wee films and then a lecture by top Scottish climber, Greg Boswell. Read on for full details.

The Films:

18 years after a catastrophic accident which left him with hemiplegia, climber Paul Pritchard returns to the Totem Pole to find out if he has recovered enough to finish the climb.

Devotion: Libby Peter (5 mins)
Libby Peter is one of the UK’s most respected climbers. Throughout her career Libby has been consistently committed to fulfilling her personal and professional objectives, whilst raising her daughters Ruby and Zoe in the climbing hub of North Wales.

brette_wrBrette (11 mins)
Follow rising talent Brette Harrington on a global journey from her hometown granite in Squamish to the big wall proving-ground of Yosemite’s El Capitan and onto a landmark free solo in Patagonia.

The Unknown (5 mins)
For Dave MacLeod, Dumbarton Rock offered an apprenticeship in climbing technique, self-motivation and dedication, helped along by a heady dose of youthful exuberance. Today, the Unknown is a catalyst for exploration and pioneering first ascents.

Lunag Ri
(18 mins)
Alpinist David Lama and his family return to Nepal for the green valleys and to reflect on their previous life there. But David, along with Conrad Anker, also hope to conquer the unclimbed peak of Lunag Ri.

Guest Speaker – Greg Boswell: Chasing Winter and Running From Bears
gregboswell_wrStarting climbing at 13, Greg Boswell knew it was something he wanted to excel at. He focussed his considerable energy on winter climbing, climbing 11 routes at Grade VIII or above before he turned 19! He’ll reflect on various adventures in search of icy winter projects, and all the things amazing and terrifying that go with them. Of course, this includes a story which thrust him into the mainstream media last year – an unfortunate encounter with Grizzly bear in Canada!
